As I reflect on this past year, I am constantly interrupted. That in itself is a sign of how full my life has become. This year we attended more funerals than I ever have before. It seems like loss and tragedy have been on all sides. Yet hope remains. And hope is what will ultimately defeat the Abominable Winter Blues. Even now, I hope for a new year. I hope for snow and sled rides. I hope for warm Valentine’s Day romance. I hope for a happy birthday. I hope for spring. I hope for summer. I hope for a big blueberry crop this year. I hope for lots of bike rides. I hope for toes in the sand. I hope for success in my career. I hope for a beautiful fall. I hope for a house full on thanksgiving. And I hope next Christmas is full of happy memories. 2018 is full of hope.
